Virginia-based fiberglass artist Mark Cline was recently featured in a WSLS 10 news story about building the “66 Man” statue for McClanahan Park. Cline has built several statues along Route 66, including the famous Buck Atom Space Cowboy in Tulsa. The 66 Man is a superhero character created by Chandler resident and Oklahoma Route 66 Hall of Fame Inductee Jerry McClanahan, who the park is named after. The project reflects Chandler’s pride in its Route 66 legacy and highlights the community’s ongoing investment in tourism and public art. The park is expected to open this summer.
